I feel lucky, sure, to have been raised in this country. I'm more than aware that I could have had it much worse than I do. But when we like to impose these new forms of government and these new rules on countries that they have to obey before we write them off, has it occurred to anyone else that these countries we want to "re-establish" and "save" are only the countries that pose any sort of threat to us imparticularily? there is a lot wrong in the world, many things that we in America are actually buying into, maybe without even knowing it, but most likely without even caring. But we are okay with exploiting certain countries or allowing things to carry on solely because they pose no iminent danger to us militarily, or economy wise.
That, is what scares me most about living here.
In the past three months I have heard people say some of the following:
-All gay people have AIDS
-Racism doesn't exist in America.
-Chicago does not have a "poor" problem.
-Crime isn't as much of a problem.
And let me say these things in response:
-Straight people have AIDS, too.
-I can't even comment on how wrong this is.
-When you say Chicago, do you just refer to Michigan Avenue and State Street shopping blocks?
-Crime will always be a problem as long as it exists, no matter how much the supposed rate decreases.
